1.9 Gti Fuel Pump Flow Rate

Recommended Posts

Mad Professor

Good Day All.

I have been trying to find out the flow rate for a standard 1.9 GTi Fuel Pump.

From other posts I have read it has been guest that the flow rate is aprox:

130l/hour (2166.66cc/min) - Free Flow.

105l/hour (1750.00cc/min) - At 3bar.

If the flow rate of 1750.00cc/min at 3bar is right that would give a flow rate suitable for 291.66bhp for a NA engine and 239.72bhp for a turbo / supercharged engine.

I am aiming for 300bhp for my turbo'ed engine so I need a fuel pump flow of around 2190cc/min at 3bar.

Does anyone have book data on the standard pumps, as I can't find any details listed in Autodata or any of my books.

Thanks for your time.

In the Haynes the only reference to ' Fuel pump delivery' is 540cc/15 sec (2160cc/min) Chapt. 4 Sect. C P1.

Hope this is of some help.

It actually says;

Regulated Fuel Pressure - 2.9 - 3.1 bar

Fuel Pump Delivery - 540cc/15 sec (2160cc/min)

Idling Speed - 900+/- 50 rpm

Idle mixture CO content - 1.0 - 2.0%

This seems to be for all models.
