Xu - Tu Wiring

Recommended Posts

davepug205

Hi,

Just wanted to know what wiring issues ill have putting my old 1.6gti engine and loom into my base model tu engined car.

Im aware of the other probs with subframe etc but wiring is usually for a mi or 6 engine.

I might change the clocks if its not to much hassle so I can have a rev counter, temp etc but Im not to bothered if these dont work.

You may be thinking why bother? My GTI is still in bits waiting for a 6 engine and Im missing it :( , so this might give me some encouragement

Ive got loads of spares and a full loom so it might only cost me the service parts. :)

Can I use the brown connectors like with the 6 loom like plug an play?

Any info would be great,

Cheers.

The TU cars have the connections on the passenger side of the engine bay. You would have to rework the GTI engine loom to suit. It can be done, but a bit of a ball ache.

Absolutely, it's nowhere near "plug and play"!
