RobBBoi 0 Posted September 21, 2008 After finally getting my airlock problems sorted yesterday and finally getting to drive the car, I noticed the temp gauge wasn't working. Where does the read out for the temp come from, so I can look for a plug/wire hanging off? Is it at the back of the thermostat where there are 2 spade connectors are. jackherer 543 Posted September 21, 2008 Thats right, one of those spades is for the overheating warning light and the other is for the gauge. Follow the wire that is connected and it will go to a brown mulitplug and you will find the temp gauge wire is connected there too. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Follow the wire that is connected and it will go to a brown mulitplug and you will find the temp gauge wire is connected there too. Don't suppose you know which is which do you? There are no multi plugs on this car. Some tool has let a monkey play with all the wires and the loom is pretty shagged. It all goes into a row of connector blocks. Which is crap! From the back of the engine I can see a wire coming from the sump, going into a connector block. Ive got one plug that was loose round by the 2 spade connectors (must have been pulled off while we were throwing the gearbox around), which goes to another connector block. The temp gauge worked before we had the gearbox off, so we know it works. I had the loose plug connected to one of the spade connectors and the temp guage didn't work. Ive swapped it over to the other connector, but havn't had chance to test it yet. There is one other loose wire, coming from the row of connector blocks, which is red, but its quite a bit shorter and has no plug on the end. It looks like its been un-connected for a while by the colour if it. Having a wild guess this must be the overheating warning light. Ill have a bash at re-wiring this bit and see what happens. Don't suppose that anyone will have photo/diagram of what Im supposed to be looking at by the off chance? Puuuurrrllleeeaassee! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

RobBBoi 0 Posted September 21, 2008 Thanks for the link. Ill follow that tomorrow night and see what the score is. I managed to get out and about earlier in the pug, with the plug on the other spade connector, and still no temp gauge. So Ill have to spend a while following that diagram and sorting out the mess of wiring under the bonnet. I must have got more wires caught than I thought!
