Oil Type And Qty As Per Haynes Manual

Recommended Posts

Can someone tell me what oil the Haynes manual reccomends for an alloy mi16.

Brand, viscosity and amount needed for a change.

thanks.

I did search, but as usual it came up with anything but what i needed.

Semi synthetic 10W-40 will be fine for std. engine :) or 5W-40 for cold winter climates ... as for brands , i like Shell or Total .. Castrol is good , Mobil also .. the thing with oils is like with the most of others - you get what you paid for .. so stay away from cheap oils !

The best oil filter is an OE one (Peugeot Purflux ..) a bit pricey but worth the cost .. other then this some of the good quality aftermarket oil filter brands : Motaquip , Cross , Fram , Mann ..

Buy the best oil filter which you can find !

As for amount of oil for particular engine aim not really sure :) should be around 4 , 4 1/2 L ..

I've made an upload of the 405 Haynes manual for you :

dipstick will tell you on the right quantity IMO, never relied on haynes for quantity as they dont state if thats in a fresh built dry engine or just for a flush etc.

Cant go wrong with millers oils either.

I seemd to have put about 5 1/2 litres of oil in my alloy mi16 and it's about 3/4 full? Not burning oil either....... :)

Yep filter change too.

The engine was sat for 1-2 months before I fitted it, it wasn't 100% dry though.

Weird huh? Doesn't seem to be burning any oil either.
