petesy71 0 Posted September 20, 2008 hi, i've just spent the last hour taking the sad out of the car to replace it only to find the two bosch part numbers are different. the one that came off the car is 0280140182, whilst the replacement is 0280140115. the cars a phase 1.5 1.9 8 valve. does anyone know if these are interchangeable or if it makes a difference, thanks, pete. Richie-Van-GTi 74 2 Cars Posted September 20, 2008 if the plugs are the same just bang it on and try it. Part numbers change as they were destined for different cars such as golfs etc or because a component inside changed but they generally all work through the same temp ranges. Usually any differences in temp's wont be noticed
petesy71 0 Posted September 20, 2008 thanks for the reply richie, plugs are the same so i'm going to take a quick coffee break and stick it on. will update after, cheers, pete.
petesy71 0 Posted September 21, 2008 hi, tried to update last night but got errors when i tried to post. the replacement sad works and i now have a choke again, so the parts are interchangeable and the job was definately worth doing. trying to reach the concealed bolts was very fiddly so i found it easier to unbolt the bit with the coolant pipes running through, and twisting this without damaging the hoses, making the bolts visible, pic cheers, pete. macaroni 17 1 Cars Posted September 22, 2008 (edited) If I may just jump in here; is a duff SAD repairable? Can the blue plug be replaced and can the disk with a hole in be freed up? Or, will there come a point when it is just too far gone? Edited September 22, 2008 by macaroni
perry318888 0 Posted September 24, 2008 hi, to reply to macaroni's question, i pulled my sad out and cleaned it with carb cleaner, then the pipes ect and left the car to go cold. when i started it - sucess it idle'd brilliantly first time! but the second time... it didnt! i am now looking for a decent second hand one (i get trade price as a mechanic and peugeot still want 105 quid + VAT!) macaroni 17 1 Cars Posted September 24, 2008 So what is it about yours that isn't working? As far as I can see, there are only 2 bits to a SAD, the bi-metallic strip that controls the disk and the temp sensor. You can get a new temp sensor from Pug for £18. Does the bi-metallic strip lose its sensitivity to heat over time?

perry318888 0 Posted September 24, 2008 im not sure? i got a temp sensor for 7 quid from partco. i think the disc gets sticky over time and stops so much cold air getting in when its cold or visa versa when its hot.
welshpug 1,666 Posted September 24, 2008 Temp sensor has nothing to do with the operation of the SAD.
perry318888 0 Posted September 24, 2008 how does the ecu know when to close it then?
welshpug 1,666 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) it doesn't have any input to it at all. from an earlier post Check this: http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...c=42508&hl= Edited September 24, 2008 by welshpug
