Gti6 Engine Conversion.

Recommended Posts

gtiles85

Hi, I am in the process of doing a gti6 engine conversion to my 205 but i have got a quiery. My 205 doesn't have power steering and the gti6 does, so did the 309 i got it out of. The problem i have got now is with the drive belt. Me being me, i just assumed that the gti6 drive belt was tentioned by the alternator, but its not.

The question i want to know is how do i get round it, i was thinking about just leaving the power steering pump there so its working as a runner pulley, but if i did that would it seize up ?

Thanks in advance !

Peetypug

you can remove the PS pump

then get a 8v alternator tensioner and alter it so you only run the the alternator on a shorter belt

try this for a start

will have a look for more in a min

If you look at where the crank pully and the Alt pully are, about half way between the two is a M8 hole, to which i have fitted an old GTI6 manual cambelt tensioner pully to. I havent yet chewcked if it will work but looks VERY good!! Thanks to a certain chap on this forum for that one, cant remember who though sorry!!
