306 1.8 16v Into 205 Gti - A Question

Recommended Posts

Guest Squibby

I am looking at using the short motor from a 306 1.8 16v ( Code LFY ) as the basis for a new motor for my 205 GTI hillclimber for 2009.

Has anyone had any dealings with a place called PUGCIT, please ? They are in Lancashire, a long way from me down here in Devon, and was wondering if I can trust them as regards the mileage they say the motor has done, from a written-off year 2000 306 ?

Thanks.

Dont read too much into mileage IMHO. Ive seen low mileage engines with knackered rings and liners and high mileage lumps with mjint internals. It more about how it was treated during its previous ownerships. Something a breakers cannot tell you. Your best making a hourney in your car and checking it yourself before buying, assuming they have the head off already.

out of interest what are they charging? Im in the same game so a bit nosey on how prices vary across the country
