[engine_work] Engine Rebuild And Upgrade

well as im new on here i thought i would introduce all to my car and show you its current condition

 

this is the car when i was using last year

then at the start of january the oil pump went on it and knackered the crank

and its pretty much sat there like that since. progress has been slow as i moved out with my girlfriend and in march my workplace burnt down :lol:

 

but i am getting back on with it now got all my bits just gotta put it back together!!

 

will get some more pics when i can

Love the Chrome inserts.....reminds me of another 205 Ive seen recently :lol:

 

Keep with it mate, its all the hardships that make it worth the effort in the end.

yeah im going to mate got a week off coming up with my dad (he worked on them when they were brand new!!!)

 

should give me enough time to spray the bay and get the engine back in!

just a quick update

 

got the bay painted

 

engine is rebuilt and is now sitting back in the bay

 

just gotta plumb and wire it all in now

 

got a few pics will sort them when i get a chance

unusual for the oil pump to go on these, had it been starved of oil?

 

Too late now, but I see you've been had by the "Group A spring" con :)

yeah i didnt realise i could of just got an xu10 spring!! grrr oh well

 

well when i stripped the engine i noticed the bottom pulley bolt wasnt too tight and my dad informed me that this has to be tight as the gear on the crank hasn't got a woodruff key it just relies on friction???

 

i think this may have been the problem

 

please correct me if im wrong though

yes you're correct there, so not an oil pump failure in itself at all (1.6 is Keyed, 1.9 isnt, or vice versa) and I believe some XU10's aren't keyed either.
