eob 7 Posted September 8, 2008 Dear fellow Mi16 heads... Just got my refettled Mi16 engine fitted and had a diagnostic genius over to give me a hand wiring it up. All looks good... except, my ECU doesn't suit my wiring loom. At all. The engine is a very early D6C with a multicoloured loom, two row plug, I suspect it's out of a 405 Mi16 as a result. The ECU I bought separately to fit to it was a Bosch Motronic 0 261 200 119 and it definitely isn't compatible. When my diagnostic friend got out his multimeter, about four or five pins on the ECU don't match up to the pins on the connector. He concluded that the ECU was from a DKW engine while what I need is an Mi16. The question is... what ECU do I need??
Baz 421 Posted September 8, 2008 Confusing as a 119 is a early 2row Mi16 ecu. Samw as any other 2row ecu, 125, 139, 140, all interchangeable. DKW?? Do you mean DFW, cat equipped Mi? Or DKZ, cat equipped motronic 1.9 8v?
eob 7 Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) I'm starting to strongly suspect that the Mi16 was fitted using a loom from an 8v Motronic 405 and the loom is wrong. The plot thickens Couple of things I noted was that the loom doesn't appear to fit 'snugly' to the engine. ie. the throttle position sensor wire seems to be about 4" too short.
