How Hard To Wire In A Carb'd Engine?

Recommended Posts

Goliath

Right im thinking of putting a carbed 1.9 8v in my mini, not the usual suspect but there we go! One of the main reasons of wanting to run a carbed engine is because I believe it will mean no ecu and all the injector malarky will have to be wired into a car that dosent have any of the wiring in place already. I would want to wire it up 'like a race car' in so far as having fuel pump switch etc on the dash and would individually wire up all the sensors as I believe this would be easier/more reliable. Can anyone see any massive flaws in my plan? (wiring wise that is!)

Or do you think it would just be easier to wire in a whole dash loom from a 205 into the mini?

Thanks in advance.

Go for it I say, use aftermarket guages as it will simplify wiring a lot. Wire the fuel pump via a relay on something like an oil pressure switch so if the engine cuts thefuel pump will as well for obvious safety reasons, what kind of spark control? If its simple coil and dissy then thats very simple to do using the standard 205 loom, also makes tacho wiring very simple :(
