Electrics Still No Good - Need An Electrician!

Recommended Posts

JSF2004

Thanks to all those who have offered assistance with my electical issues!

On the basis I have a trackday at Oulton in 10 days, I need to get it sorted and i am struggling!

Starter Motor not turning, fuel pump no longer does anything and not sure where to look next!

Before I started my investigation, the fuel pump would work when the key was in the cranking position? Now nothing!

Can anyone offer their services and earn a few quid :P or does anyone know of a good auto electrician who will cover Kettering in Northants?

Thanks for al your help in advance!

Does this have any impact on starter motor working?? And also, the fuel pump was working in the cranking position...now nothing!

Help!! 9 Days to go!!

Cheers

have you killed the battery trying? Sorry if sounds noob but its first suspect if starter wont turn. Next up would be to check earth straps between engine/chassis and battery along with starter solenoid wire for continuity and voltage at position 3 of key.

Is the starter solenoid wire (blue wire with spade connector) connected to the starter & like richie said, how good is the battery now?

Morning all

I have worked through all your advice, and now have a car that starts and fires....however the starter motor continues to run after it has fired and it doesnt sound very happy with this...!

Can rev engine, but it seems to be running on the starter motor?

Once again, thanks for the advice in advance.....i am learning a lot from this!! :D

Could it be something to do with the immobiliser being dodgy on the car as these things all seem a bit intermittent and non consistent??

If the starter stays engaged it is possible that either your ignition switch isn't returning to the run position properly or the starter solenoid has the alternator field wire fitted to it instead.

The starter solenoid should have a thick blue wire running to it, iirc the alternator has a brown wire.

Graham.
