mfield 20 Posted September 3, 2008 I'm going to be fitting a inline fuel pressure gauge today but i'm unsure on the best place to put it, anyone know where's best on the 205 ? it's a std'ish 1.9 8v.
Powers 13 Posted September 3, 2008 Is it a gauge or gauge/regulator? Do you have a link to the gauge as there are so many different designs.
mfield 20 Posted September 3, 2008 it's a gauge this one in fact http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/Pro...pcode=FSEFGA100 only it's got push fittings to go into the fuel line.
Powers 13 Posted September 3, 2008 Cool, I hope you didnt buy it from them! Check the attached picture. Obviously it has to go before the regulator inorder to measure the pressure in the rail. It might be worth changing your fuel filter (if its old) when fitting the gauge.
mfield 20 Posted September 3, 2008 cheers bud nah didn't buy from them, was just the first google result. good call on the filter, will a new one come with the washers or do i have a trip to pug dealer ? plus whats the easyest way to depressurise the system ? Powers 13 Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) Regarding the washers check the condition of the ones your are removing. Obviously if they are worn change them. You can source new ones from any good motorfactors or a plumb centre should be able to sort you out. Just take your old ones with you and they will match it up. Changing the filter can be a bit of an arse due to lack of room. My tip would be keep it in the mount until you have loosened both the top and bottom connectors. You will still need to use a spanner on the top and bottom to loosen the fuel lines. For refit attach the bottom connector then attach into the mount/clamp and refit the top connector. Depressurising is easy just unscrew the fuel line holding a rag underneath to absorb the fuel, no technical method I am aware of! welshpug 1,677 Posted September 3, 2008 to de-pressurise the system start the engine, then pull out the fuel pump fuse (closest to driver) engine should stall shortly
mfield 20 Posted September 3, 2008 It's all fitted now When i got the car it had pressure reg fitted but it's been running crap and stinks of fuel so i got a pressure gauge to check it out, it was only running at an indicated 6 bar I didn't know it went that high Set it now at 3 and it runs lovely compared, got some new plugs to put in now.
