Hesitation Of Revs When Changing Gears?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

This only happened when taking out the hoses and such to replace the dizzy to ignition amp wire... Could i have knocked something out?

Cheers,

not sure what you mean! the revs drop when changing gear, erm, that normally happens when you take you foot off the gas, try not lifting?! :P

lol true but it used to pickup farily quickly after a gear change... like i feel a nice toqrue

I mean now it feels like its losing a bit of power, maybe i am just paranoid as when the grommet in one of the hoses between the AFM and the throttle body broke off thats what it did, revs just started jumping all over the place when i would change gears and lose power and sputter and eventually die. Or could it have been that dizzy wire not sure. Also could have been the idle screw as it is idling pretty high atm and i havnt had a chance to correct the idle. When cold it should idle at around 1200 right? Then back to 1000 when operating.

Ok i will just keep driving it and hope for the best.

Cheers,

Merc

Have you been turning the dizzy in clockwise/anticlockwise direction ? if so then you've advanced or retarded the ignition timing which could lead to jerky idle , hesitation etc. ..

As for the dizzy signal cable , when repairing the dizzy end of the signal cable you must verify which wire is + and which one is - , afterwards you've repaired them protect each wire with heat shrink tubes and plug them back inside in the right direction on the pick up coil ..

..just spotted , check if you still have a screw on the oil breather hose grommet which attaches on to the inlet manifold cos loosing this screw means huge air leak ! .. the inlet manifold is cross drilled all the way inside beneath that screw so either fit an new screw back or apply sealant inside the screw hole .. or both , find appropriate screw , coat the screw threads lightly with sealant and fit it back inside ..

you dont happen to have a pic of this do you? or where abouts i can look? because as far as i know i have covered all air leaks. I also checked while reving engie and doesnt seem to have that noticable air leak soun di got when the grommet went missing.

Can't find any detail pic of this area , just look around the right side of the inlet manifold it'll be down in the corner where the manifold bolts on to the head :
