Doof 11 Posted September 1, 2008 Im still trying to figure out whats going on with the last couple of wires before fitting my MS...i want to be 100% about it before i go frying my ECU! So, wire 76...fuel pump power i believe. As shown below i seem to have 2 black wires that come over the steering wheel to where the Tach relay would have been (this is obviously gone). The 2 black wires are jointed to bits of wire 76, im not sure if they are meant to join together or quite what... Ultimately my question is, the 2 black wires coming over there steering wheel, relating to the tach relay...what are they? One is presumably the positive feed for the fuel pump...but i can't see what the second it and i dont want to apply power to it only to kill something. Crappy diagram for reference Really appreciate any help on this. Lewis

Lewis Unmarked black wires are usually from an after market immobiliser so more than likely both together would make the wire you seek
Doof 11 Posted September 1, 2008 Both together? So they both go to the fuel pump positive...bizarre. Must go through some relay for the immobiliser then? Thanks mate!
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted September 1, 2008 Most immobiliser's are badly installed and are like this, I bet if you follow it back you'll find the join in them
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted September 1, 2008 Its possible your car had a dead tachymetric relay & someone worked around it with these wires. Wouldn't be the first time I'd seen that done. Graham.
Doof 11 Posted September 1, 2008 The thing is, i did a continuity test on the wires and between the two ends was infinite resistance so they can't go back to the same point...
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted September 2, 2008 The fuel pump wire runs from the tachymetric relay to the fusebox (via the brown multiplug depending on year) so it wouldn't necessarily have continuity from either of the black wires. Graham.
steve@cornwall 100 Posted September 2, 2008 how do these wires actually join wire 76? I am expecting that these wires are part of a circuit, of which the immobiliser formed a switch, if you see what I mean?
