Flexible Brake Hoses....

hey gang!

 

finally got my 309 gti rear beam on over the weekend and it does look and feel sweet! lowered to suite too!

 

the rear flexible brake hoses that go from the rear calipers to the solid lines (where they attach onto the trailing arm bracket) are in need of replacement, however on the new beam the bolts that held braket in place snapped off in the arm on both sides doh!

 

typically only the bolt that holds that bracket on broke, the other 2 (the same bolts that hold the disk protector on) were fine.

 

Rather than wasting several hours and my temperment on drilling them out and re-tapping the holes to refit them, I thought I would use one the good bolt holes, however this would mean longer flexibly hoses to reach the bracket in its new location.

 

are there any recommended brake line suppliers that I can get longer hoses to suit my need or will any brake hose do?

yup, do away with the flexi hose, like the 306 and 206 with the same caliper.

I don't like that idea at all. Solid brake line to moving caliper.

 

A better solution IMO would be to get some -3 fittings and aeroquip line and make yourself up some flexis to go all the way from the caliper to the car.

the brake caliper hardly moves at all, a max of 5mm, which isnt a problem IMO and eliminates a section of expensive brake hose and a hydraulic joint.

I use solid line's now, All 106, 306's etc use that as does the 406 allthou a different caliper and I;ve never had a problem.
