Bolts To Fit Xu10 Sump With Spacer To 1.9 Mi16 Engine

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've bought an extended oil pickup and am in the process of fitting it to my mi. I've used the original sump bolts from the mi but the two allen bolts on the front corner of the sump aren't long enough. Does anyone know what the specification of the thread is for these bolts so I can order some or know of another bolt which will do the job?

Thanks,

Dean

You can drill out the hole 10mm and use your existing bolts, photos in thread somewhere on here, I gave up trying to find suitable bolts. You also need to use 2 shorter ones for the crank pulley end, if you use your existing Mi ones you risk damaging it....

im in the process for sorting my sump out and on mine i cant get any of the standard bolts to fit. they are all about 3mm to long(when putting them in lightly they seem to bottom out.)

also aint i correct that the mi alloy sump has one extra, deep bolt compared to the xu10 sump. so how do you get around this?

Is this an iron block Dave? Im pretty sure on ally blocks the threads go all the way through the sump flange.

You don't have to keep the spacer with an XU10 sump, just be sure to drill a hole for the dowel in the block. I got rid of the spacer and used the GTi6 bolts, also kept the 'wings' on it and bolted to the gearbox, helps to stiffen things up a bit.

its the 1.9 alloy block. maybe theres just a load of sealant up there from a previous change?

Could be, best bet is to get all that crap out as it makes getting the new bolts a pain. Well, it depends where the hole is actually, as some of them are blind holes - on the gearbox end I think. The ones on the lip are all through holes though.
