Dual Cooling Fans Like The 1.9td 306? On A 205?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

wondered if anyone can help out.

the plastic electric cooling fans on the 205 gti (mines a 1.9) mine seems to only have one actual fan in, not sure if its meant to or not...

i previously had a '96 1.9tdsport 306 which had a nice set of cooling fans which worked wonders.

anyone know if these are a direct swap or what is and if there is much point?

cheers in advance,

tommer

205 diesels have twin fans as standard, whereas GTi's and other models only have one.

No need in my opinion for a second fan, unless it's to mask an underlying problem with the cooling system - a single fan is more than upto the job providing that the rest of the cooling system is working correctly and in good order.

I also don't see the point in twin fans & on a 1.9 the oil cooler radiator is sat where the fan would be.

It makes me laugh when its used as a selling point, all twin fans mean is when the cooling fans are on they cool it quicker imo rather than helping to keep it cool under normal running situations (when they shouldn't even be on!).

Graham.

All the top line model's had twin fan's, With or Without A/C, The twin fan set up even's has a different feed to the fan's so they switch off when you turn the ignition off.

But as said no need if the system is in good nick

I'm running twin fans on my road rally car and works very well but the car is having a bo**ocking over quite a long period of time but for a road car there's not much point really.
