Battery Light Getting Brighter With Higher Revs

Recommended Posts

skanny

The car i have was my bosses up until a couple of weeks ago.

He has had no apparent problems with it and has sold it to me because he wanted more bhp for on the track.

I noticed to day that the battery warnign light lights up and gets brighter with increasing revs and similarly gets dimmer when you takke your foot off the loud pedal.

When at idle the battery symbol is just visible.

Any ideas on what could be the cause?

Cheers

check battery voltage with and without engine running befiore going any further. If you get 12v off and 14+ running then you have a wiring issue, less than 14v running would point towards an alternator fault.

I thoght that 12v off and 14 running was how it was supposed to be?

It is :)

What he means is that the alt and battery are not at fault in this case so it points to the wiring.

Have you checked the pulley's tensioner? If it's loose it will most likely tend to slip with higher revs, making the warking light get brighter
