notamondayfan 44 Posted August 26, 2008 Hey guys, In the final stages of the mi16 conversion, and need some advice on the choke for a set of weber 45s. how does everyone else rig up a choke? obviously the gti never had one, but would an XS choke from a carb version work? any advise always appreciated! thanks, dean
Ryan 99 Posted August 26, 2008 The choke lever from a carb 205 will fit straight in - the hole in the dash is there behind the plastic cover, and the warning light too. All you might need to do it extend the choke cable (depending on how long it needs to be).
boombang 2 Posted August 26, 2008 Is this for the cold start enrichment part of the carbs? If so I wouldn't bother using it at all. Every carbed car I've worked on hasn't had one, all you have to do is 4 pumps of the throttle, then start engine, then feather throttle for a few seconds. Assuming the car is well setup this should be fine. On colder days you may have to feather the throttle a bit longer, but should settle down within a short length of time from starting the car up. notamondayfan 44 Posted August 26, 2008 boombang, thats currently how its working at the moment, but i would prefere the choke rigged up properly. it does tend to start better when the choke is open, and whilst its in the garage i may as well give it a go anywho. im looking at servicebox, and theres quite a few variations for choke control. does anyone know which one i should use? cheers, dean
