mmt 15 Posted August 24, 2008 I´m lowering my rear beam. At the moment it sits 39 cm from the hub to my mark on the arch. This setting seems to be to low(the wheels hit the arch when I turn!). As I try to raise the beam it seems as if the next setting is 45 cm from hub to my mark. This setting(45 cm) is way too high! The arms slide nicely in on the bars at 39 and 45 cm but I can´t get the arms to slide in between those two settings. What am I doing wrong? Use a bigger mallet? Can´t afford to destroy the splines on the beam though! Anyone tried this? Thanks /Martin
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted August 24, 2008 Extract the torsion bar splines from both ends. The splines are different at each end giving lots of combinations. Set the ride height you desire with a dummy damper, then fit the torsion bar in place, keep rotating it till it slides in with finger pressure. Voila, done.
