Oil Filter Wont Fit On New Engine

Recommended Posts

pa402

Having just replaced my 1.9 engine with a later one from a 309 I cant get the oil filter in as the radiator is in the way.

My old engine had a separate oil cooler, but the new one has one attached to the block, which is the cause of the issue. Is there a smaller alternative oil filter that I can use?

take the old cooler of your old engine and fit it to that one. the 309 one will be the water/oil cooler which isnt really necessary on the 1.9 8v. the one you removed will be the air/oil cooler. . both are just sandwich plates and will come off by removing the hollow extension tube (22mm socket roughly) . you can even remove the lot and just fit the filter direct to the block if you so desire.
