Bushes In G/box Casing For Clutch 'pin'

Recommended Posts

Paintguy

Ok, so you'll have to forgive my non-technical description, but hopefully you'll get the idea of what I'm asking :D

Basically the clutch release bearing has gone in a major way on my car, but on inspection there is another problem, which may or may not be connected. The 'pin' or 'shaft' which runs vertically in the bellhousing and operates the release bearing (with the clutch release arm on the top) has a major wobble on! It rotates in some bushes in the gearbox casing itself, and these look long past their best.

It makes sense to change them now while the box is out, but I'm a bit of a novice with Service Box, and can't seem to find them anywhere. Anybody know if they are in fact available? And the proper name might help too please :)

Thanks,

Andy.

That's the fella's!

Thanks for that Tom. I was beginning to worry that I needed a new gearbox casing. Time to see how much the steelers want for them now :)

Just as well buying a new shaft as well, This will make your clutch as light as ever

I changed mine not long ago. Havent got the invoice to hand, but they werent much at all.

Instant differance ! I heard something about a choice between yellow and white or something ? I used the numbers off the other thread about them, and they were white, same as the old ones.

According to Service Box I'm looking at close to £50 for that though.

Thanks for the tip, but since I'm having to watch every penny at the minute, I'll have to make do with cleaning up the old one :)

Try loads of your choice of lubricant, hammer it backwards the opposite way you would want to pull the pin out of the shaft to free it, then nick a bolt from your strut tops which handily fit the pin and you should be able to wind it out!

Worked for me anyway.
