Hi guys

Ok Gonna fix my sump leak on the 1.9 greg. Do i need 2 sump gaskets??? I ordered 1 thinking that would be all but after reading some posts I have heard people using 2 for the fix???? (im guessing between spacer and sump) ..............Is this the case???

I was goin to do it bank holiday but unsure about whether i can now :-(

I see no purpose for using 2.... 1 should be fine. Dont over tighten the bolts as that really will ruin the gasket. I recently had my sump off and the only issue was a couple of drops of oil from the bolt holes. Easily fixed with some sealant (love that stuff)!!

I recently did mine and I only used one between the sump and spacer. Spacer to block is just sealant on mine. There wasn't a gasket in there when I took it apart so I put it together the same way. It's not leaking so I'm pretty sure it's correct!

They use sealer as standard between spacer and block.

I have just done mine and used two gaskets,I wonder if the sealer between the spacer and block is the reason nearly all XU's are oily :)

You can do away with gaskets all together. Ive used sealer on sumps for years. Infact i use it for most gaskets that dont have to be there, if i can use sealer i will.

Has a much longer life than a gasket if installed properly. Most engine manufacturers are steering away from gaskets.
