I was goin to do it bank holiday but unsure about whether i can now :-( I see no purpose for using 2.... 1 should be fine. Dont over tighten the bolts as that really will ruin the gasket. I recently had my sump off and the only issue was a couple of drops of oil from the bolt holes. Easily fixed with some sealant (love that stuff)!!

pringlep 0 Posted August 23, 2008 I recently did mine and I only used one between the sump and spacer. Spacer to block is just sealant on mine. There wasn't a gasket in there when I took it apart so I put it together the same way. It's not leaking so I'm pretty sure it's correct!
CosKev 16 Posted August 23, 2008 They use sealer as standard between spacer and block. I have just done mine and used two gaskets,I wonder if the sealer between the spacer and block is the reason nearly all XU's are oily
Rom 0 Posted August 23, 2008 You can do away with gaskets all together. Ive used sealer on sumps for years. Infact i use it for most gaskets that dont have to be there, if i can use sealer i will. Has a much longer life than a gasket if installed properly. Most engine manufacturers are steering away from gaskets.
vickiw106 1 Posted August 23, 2008 i have recently installed a baffled sump on my rally car and when i reinstalled the sump without any gasket just used silcone sealant without any problem
