Recommended Posts

My mission to replace every part on my car continues!

I'm just about to replace the track rods but am not sure what the little clear rings are for?

Any ideas?

These are just locking washers, that prevent the inner balljoint from winding off the rack.

Just take a look at the inner balljoint of the track rods and you will see where these go...

oops..just saw that you actually asked for the silicone kind-a thingies...no idea what they are for :-D

Ditto! :)

My track rods never came with any of those from ECP, nor have I seen them or anything that resembled them on the rack I was fixing. Maybe the help the dust boot 'grip' on the locating channel?

Although I changed my bust track rod, 1 rally later I ended up just buying a refurbed rack for £29 as post rally the bloody rack itself had picked up some play. I should have done that in the first place really considering the track rods were £15 a side!

Sorry, not much help, but can't really see what those bits are for...

I think they might just get left out! :)

The rack itself is a almost new quickrack. :)

Sorry i can't help either. My quickrack came new from Quaife and i never saw any of those plastic rings anywhere. Try building the rack without them and see if theres any slop in it

They won't cause any problems I don't think, I just thought maybe they were seals of some kind. I've taken apart a few racks and never seen them but thought that maybe I just didn't notice them when covered in oil. :)
