ifcho 0 Posted August 22, 2008 Hi, I got a pretty bare block and it had the oil dipstick removed. I found one in my garage and today had time to fit it...however there is no tread or any kind of sealing? It is also not a case of just pushing it in, as in my case it falls down up to a fat lip but you can take it off with two fingers... I was thinking of glueing it This is the part I'm talking about: As on the picture there is a small fixation plate which should be screwed somewhere into the block. Is this all that needs to be done? Shouldn't there be any sealant?
dcc 855 Posted August 22, 2008 erm if i am correct, it just sits in a hole on the rear of the block, with it beign mounted to the exhaust or back of the head itself? not 100% sure tho.
guffe 2 Posted August 22, 2008 There is no sealing, just stick it in. Don't glue it if you should get it off again, they will seize by themselfs that removing is sometimes very hard.
welshpug 1,666 Posted August 22, 2008 I'm sure there's an allen headed bolt on the head next to the manifold, I had to unbolt my manifold to fit my Dipstick without bending it.
