Pob 1 Posted August 21, 2008 Is there any ignition timing marks on a 1.9 engine? I've had a look and carn't see any... I've got a 270 cam and it pinks pretty badly low down. I think the fuelling also needs looking at, is there a basic setting for the AFM? Thanks, Dan
welshpug 1,657 Posted August 21, 2008 the basic timing settings will be irrelevant nowadays even on a totally standard engine, they aren't the easiest to access either, far better to do it manually I.E adjust it to a basic setting, then test drive and go from there IIRC rotate the dizzy till the idle stops increasing, and back it off 100rpm, this will give you a starting point. Thanks for the info. So I advance it till the rev's start increasing, then back it off? You say back it off 100rpm, is this via the idle speed screw? Thanks again, Dan
welshpug 1,657 Posted August 21, 2008 nope, by turning the distributor. once that is set adjust the hot idle to around 850-900 rpm (large brass screw on T/:ph34r: then get the Idle CO set (the screw on the AFM)
