nick9one1 2 Posted August 21, 2008 because of a slack gearchange i've just replaced the gear (three of) with uprated adjustable ones. Although it still seems slack? are there any other parts I can replace? When you wiggle the gearstick the rods at the gearbox end dont seem to move, the play seems to all be between the gearstick and box. I noticed another much thicker bar between gearstick and box that seems to move alot. is this replaceable? cheers, Nick
James_R 3 Posted August 21, 2008 There's the "L" bracket bushes/bolt that can be swapped, also the L brakcet itself can become worn/damaged causng those symptoms. Additonally there's the "ball" on the subframe which the other rod connects to and can loosen usuall that tightened up helps. Hope that helps. James
welshpug 1,661 Posted August 21, 2008 Additionally top the parts James mentioned there's a nylon bearing around the larger shaft near to the gearstick, as well as 2 top hat bushes on the bottom of the gearstick.

Miles 331 1 Cars Posted August 21, 2008 I can give you a quickshift for .75p, Does the same thing as the other's but you just need to drill 1 hole and cut the old ball off But if the Large Dia rod is moving this 99% of the time is a James has said, that the ball has come loose on the subframe, A new large penny washer and a new nyloc fixes this, Also if you look in the group buy section there is the top hat bushes to suit the 'L' which will remove any play from the linkages. nick9one1 2 Posted August 21, 2008 I tightened up the ball on the subframe and it has transformed the gearchange! so much better. Think i will still get the penny washer and new nyloc like you suggest.
