Lorn 0 Posted August 18, 2008 Is there an easy place to start looking for where the vacuum seal has gone wrong? I am just wondering how other people have fixed theirs? welshpug 1,657 Posted August 18, 2008 start with the one way valve in the Servo and the pipe leading from it, there's an accumulator unit under the scuttle panel next to the air intake for the cabin, check the pipes to there. stuck shut right? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I drilled a very small hole through a bolt, threaded the cable through and clamped either side with a nut - job jobbed (still holding after 5 years) otherwise it's at least a glass- out job. Kobayashi 35 2 Cars Posted August 19, 2008 similar problem, other way round: i have too little pressure inside the seal when its locked. i do hear a "shhhhh" sound when shutting and releasing, but it's very easy to deform and press inside the vacuum seal when it should be pumped up. i recall it being stiffer some time ago. i also think it's loosing pressure when parked with roof locked. are there any usual suspects for pressure loss in this system? timb1046 1 Posted August 19, 2008 the seal should not be hard, but firm to the touch when sealed. after all its only atmosphere thats going into the system. when you close the handle does the glass raise at all? if it does then i'd say it was all ok, if it doesnt then it sounds like you may have a slight leak. Kobayashi 35 2 Cars Posted August 20, 2008 thanks. well, it's neither really firm to the touch. when closing the handle the glass rises slightly, but you can tell that it's not tight enough from the water coming in when using a pressure washer for car wash. so i think either the seal is punctured, or the vacuum box doesn't fully stop to suck out air of the seal. i'll check that.
