Longun 1 Posted August 18, 2008 I'm gutted I found a nail in my almost new R888's. This is the last time I scrub them in on the road Anyway my question, can this be fixed? I'm not talking your local ATS nail fix, I'm thinking properly fixed, so I can trust it at speed again? I've ordered two new ones, as I don't like replacing just one (these have at least 5mm tread left:( ). I've got a track day coming up and there is no way I'm hammering it round a track with a nail in my tyre. Just for info after hours of searching the cheapest I could find them was £128 for two from Camskill. Spikey hurry up with another group buy :(
welshpug 1,657 Posted August 18, 2008 where in the tread is the nail? AFAIK there is only one way to fix it, and that's the process that ATS will use.
nick 3 Posted August 18, 2008 Just have it repaired at any tyre place. They put a rubber "mushroom" in from the inside guaranteed to be as good as a new tyre. I did a full day at Donington on a repaired tyre without any problems (...and about another 8k on it after that) Nick
Longun 1 Posted August 18, 2008 Welshpug, nail is just off center, looks like its gone in at an angle as there is a slight bulge acrosss the top of the tyre. Didn't know there is only one fix so will give them a chance Whats your number so if I go off I know who to sue :(
welshpug 1,657 Posted August 18, 2008 if its not safe to repair the tyre place wont (Shouldn't) repair it, as its their ass on the line
