Cheap Ecu Route

Hi looking at going ignition only ecu on my MI with carbs, single coil with dizzy. Have spotted on flea bay the following would any of them suit.

Another cheap way is to use a MegaJolt, the MegaJolt unit itself is not expensive even compared to second hand ECU's, to work it needs a 36-1 trigger pattern and then uses Ford EDIS ignition module, crank sensor, coilpack, all obtainable cheaply from the breakers from 1990's Ford Fiestas or Escorts.

this is the one I is looking at. At the moment set up for Vauxhall but I would have thought that with a Throttle sensor should be OK. Does the MI16 CPS come with the engine or is it in the gearbox? daft question maybe?

Mi16 cps is fitted in the gearbox above the flywheel 60-2 timing ring.

I am assuming that is on a MI16 gearbox of course. I have a BE1 fitted not sure I have seen anything on there, am I correct in thinking I am going to need a new timing disc.

It's part of the flywheel, and some early Be1 boxes don't even have the whole in the casing to accept the sensor.

 

If you have an Mi flywheel you're fine, if you're using an 8v flywheel to save weight then you'll need to swap over. and again if the gearbox is very early you'll need a later casing or whole box to be able to run it.

You can modify the original case to accept the CPS as well, bit more dedicated but not that much work.
