Sunroof Removed - Ali Or Carbon Effect Abs To Cover The Hole?

Recommended Posts

Kaboota

Hi, I know this topic has been covered a number of times and I have a sheet of aluminium ready to pop rivet in place, but was wondering if there would be any reason that I should not use a sheet of carbon effect ABS plastic instead?....and maybe bond it rather than rivet???

The benefit is that the carbon effect ABS is already finished, no need to paint, no rust problems, it's cheap and light in weight etc would get it from here www.motorsportparts.co.uk

Thanks

I just did mine in aluminium seemed the easiest way to do it. However im sure it could also be done the way you mention. Im not painting mine just going to use some zymol wax to protect it from the elements.

i'm inclined to say the abs will pant more than the ali sheet, but having not tried it i couldn't say for sure.

Positive - ABS sheet will be a simpler solution

Negative - may rattle a touch more

will have to give it some more thought!
