try loosening the other 2 bolts, may help to get the bolt started in the thread.

Hello welshpug, tried that actually but i think the AFM thread got stuffed. The bolts wont go in and stay in anymore :(

is there an easy fix for this or will i have to buy a whole new AFM :(. Its just the thread on those two bolts (as pictured that got stuffed)

Its creating a leak and the car doesnt run properly if its not tight.

I might try buying new bolts. But has anyone come across a similar problem? If so what would be the best way around tackling this problem?

Cheers,

Merc

it is an AFM not a MAF :(

even if the seal there leaks it wont cause any running issues as its on the filter side not engine side.

oh ok well u know that little hose that connects the AFM to the throttle body.

there are two hoses that connect to that hose and the grommet of the smaller of the two has boken off. Dya think Sealant should fix it?

We did an easy fix and the car seemed to be ok but im scared it will pop off again. Is there some special sealnt that will seal the grommet and stick it to the hose permanently?

Cheers,

Merc

aslo could u explain why this wont cause any leaks? Doesnt it still need to be air tight for correct air/fuel mixture? If there is air comign out from there wont the air/fuel mixture be changed?

Merc

a leak on the filter side wont cause any problems, which is where I thought your leak was, a leak between the throttle body and the AFM will though obviously.

is it the metal section of the pipe that has pulled out of the elbow? not sure what would be the best to use, I doubt Silicone would do it due to the elbow being a flexible rubber.

Does anyone know the part number of that hose? Or what its called?

I might just buy a new one

i would still fix it, as it's past the filter. so with real bad luck, stuff will be sucked in that would normally be filtered. also, cool air flow might be slightly affected, i guess.

mine looked as bad as this, but still could be fixed:

i used a blow-dryer to warm up the plastic (but be careful to not melt it or anything around!) and carefully bent it back into shape, then inserted a 60mm steel ring to support it from the inside. works fine.
