happygoron 2 Posted August 15, 2008 (edited) Hi, this car looks a little back heavy in these pictures, is this a sign of the rear beam needing doing or any other problem? OF course it could be that they took the photos with a few bags of sand in the boot . Edited August 15, 2008 by happygoron
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted August 15, 2008 Looks like a fairly standard stance to me. The front ends often seem to sit high.
jackherer 543 Posted August 15, 2008 Hard to tell from those angles but you could well be correct. The drivers side looks lower than the left and could be cambered but possibly the ground could be an odd angle. Is this a car you are looking at buying? If so ask for a picture from directly behind on level ground. The thing is that even if you do buy a 205 with no camber and creaks it will fail in no time unless its been rebuilt so if there isn't a recent receipt you need to budget an extra 2-3 hundred to cover it really
shalmaneser 26 Posted August 15, 2008 looks like its been taken down a spline at the back to me...as mentioned you need to check the camber (or any signs of rubbing on the wheel arches) really.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted August 15, 2008 If it's never been apart before than more often than not the beam will need a rebuild so if your keeping the car for a while I would at least strip it and check it, Best thing then at least you will know what it's like and you might be lucky and just find the cup & seal's need replacing (Few quid). happygoron 2 Posted August 15, 2008 Is stripping and refurbing an easy job for a relative mechanical novice? I had a flick through some guides and it seems doable but not too sure. I accept that it is a job that will have to be done on a 20year old car if it hasn't already been.
