Whats Up Pug?

When in traffic on a slip road this afternoon, clutch dipped, trundling along, I could hear a clicking sound on every revolution of the wheel coming from the drivetrain. When I got home I got the missus to freewheel the car as I walked along side. It sounded like a crunching noise. I jacked up the front end and on spinning the nearside wheel a light clicking sound can be heard. I'm guessing this is what I can hear when on the move.

Any ideas what this could be? At a guess I'd say bearing or hub carrier as I've fitted new cv boots. I just hope its not drive shaft related.

Thanks in advance fellas.

By the way had a fantastic drive today through North Yorkshire..Settle, Hawes and Kirby Lonsdale can def. recommend as a good way to waste an day. Even the missus telling me to slow down couldn't spoil things

Sounds to me like a bearing on its way out. driveshafts tend to knock on corners. Soes anything make it worse? i.e. accelerating or cornering? I think if your left bearing is going then it should be more noisy when you turn right...

I was hoping it was a bearing, I just thought they developed play/lateral movement. I'll try it lock to lock in the morning mate thanks for the reply..

This couldn't be something as trivial as a balancing weight catching on the caliper could it?
