John_B 11 Posted August 14, 2008 My fuel pump has gone and I tried to order one from GSF. First they give me one from a Porsche. Then they give me this, It looks pretty different and there are no holes for the bolts, the bolts don't fit around the top either. I know it says T18354 in their catalogue and on their website and that's the number I gave them. So can anyone help? Do they do one that fits? Or do you have to buy one from somewhere else? saveloy 8 Posted August 14, 2008 Up to '89 you need a Bosch 0580 464 993. GSF aren't quite as useless as Euros, but they are close. What you have there is the outer body to something. John_B 11 Posted August 15, 2008 I rang the local pug dealer and the code he gave me was 145509 and I've conformed this with the Parts CD. GSF reckon the pump I have, T18354, is the pump for 145509. Saveloy, you say up to 89, my car is an 89 what do the two types look like? I could only find one part number on the CD? This is the top of mine: OK I may have been a little stupid, it wont have been the first time. Are you supposed to strip both pump housings and just replace the pump? saveloy 8 Posted August 17, 2008 GSF are arses. Neither of those parts makes sense. What you should only need is the pump itself. You can use the existing casing, there will be no issues doing that. The Bosch pump itself should simply be an un-painted metal cylinder. Yours will most likely have a plastic skirt around it too. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
John_B 11 Posted August 17, 2008 I've taken the pump off again and taken the bottom filter off, and can see that it's definitely the wrong one. The outlet from the pump which goes into the casing is at the centre on the 205 pump but towards the edge of the GSF one. I'll try for a Bosch one tomorrow. saveloy 8 Posted August 17, 2008 John, BINGO!!! That is my pump. You need Bosch 0580 464 993. It should cost a little shy of £140. Confirm this with the number on your pump. The metal clip can be replaced with a jubilee clip, but get it really tight and trim the end very smoothly, otherwise you could pierce the filter on the cage. You are going to need alot of time to separate the pump and it's outer sleeve from the plastic case. Use some washing up liquid as a lubricant when putting it all back together. And be careful to get the top clip on well. Again, lubricate it well, otherwise it will be an arse. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ALEX 98 1 Cars Posted August 18, 2008 The black ones are from phase 1 and 1.5 models, that white one they supplied looks like a revised phase 2 pump casing, unless it's for a different car completely. The Casings on the phase 2 pumps are very brittle and it would'n't supprise me if they revised the design, don't know why there isn't any fixing holes though? The pumps inside the black Phase 1 & 1.5 to the White phase 2 design are different too. Also note the black pumps are shorter than the white ones, I have replaced my brittle white phase 2 one with a 2nd hand black one now I get fuel starvation on tight bends with quarter a tank in it. John_B 11 Posted August 28, 2008 OK thanks for all the help. Saveloy was spot on, it was a Bosch 0580 464 993. Got it from GMF and it cost £102 next day. I managed to fit it without too much trouble in the end, only problem was I couldn't get a jubille clip to fit under the outer filter. I ended up using a cable tie which seems to be secure.
