Driving lamps to fog lamps, how?

Recommended Posts

Kobayashi

maybe this is the right place to ask for help: i want to convert my driving lamp wiring to fog lamps. i have the lamps and the switch here, but i am not sure how to do the wiring.

i heard that it is simply a relay that needs to be replaced by another, but i could find no such thing in the servicebox. however, there is one for the 106.

so i would be very much interested in wiring diagrams of fog and driving lights, as well as part numbers, relay specs, and so on.

has somebody done or tried that thing before?

you need to alter the wiring so that the new switch triggers the original relay rather than the main beam switch+wiring triggering the relay.

When doing the above, you'll also need to make it work with just sidelights on & not just main beam.

yes, thank you. but is there a prepped kit or such to do so?

There should have been a suitable loom becaue there were a few 205's with front fog lights fitted as an optional extra (base models) but I'd be very surprised if it was still available now.

An idea might be if you can find a 309 GTi with the wiring loom in & get the whole loom & switch to see what would need modifying to fit into a 205 for them to work.

not a bad idea, thanks.

but i think the 309 gti had both fog and driving lamps, so it can't be exactly the same wiring.

i've already seen 205 gtis and ctis with fog lamps, not only lower-spec models. it seems to me like those were pretty common in more northern countries.

would be great if i could obtain some detailed photos and/or diagrams of the wiring in such cars.

Just wire them in from scratch.

Disconnect the main beam relay and wire a new relay off the sidelamp circuit and pop a front fog switch in a five hole dash panel both still available from main dealers.
