How Much Brake Fluid

Recommended Posts

Guest choppa7

I need to replace a brake line on a 205 GR.

I'm just wondering if there is such a thing as a brake line drain point or something which means I can let the fluid out in a controlled manenr rather than just jacking up the car and letting it pour over me when I begin undoing the connectors?

failing that, does anyone know how much fliud is in the lines so I know what size container to get ready for it piddling out of the pipes?

Cheers in advance

Depends how long you take! No drain point as such no. But you can clamp the flexi's to stop too much leaking, depending on which line you need to change.

Use a large syringe to take as much as possible out of the reservoir then put a plastic tube on each bleed nipple in turn and gently pump the brake pedal to expel the fluid. Expect some snapping bleed nipples.

You could clamp off some lines like Baz said but its probably wise to flush all the fluid through and bleed it thoroughly.

ok thanks chaps, its a centre solid pipe which needs replacing so no joy with clamping the flexi, I do want to replace the fluid at the same time though so I suppose its just a case of suck and see lol

Cheers
