Front Jacking Point

Hi all.

 

quick question.

 

where does everyone rest the car on axel stands once jacked up?

 

im going to have to be under the car tomorrow doind the manifold and dont really want to get flattened if i put the stands at the sides

just behind the front mudflaps on the lip that runs the whole lenght of the sill is where i have always put the axle stands. been fine for the past 10 odd years..

 

being squashed under a 205 would be a good way to die!!!!

under the subframe, the big black frame thing under the front :lol:

 

I try not to jack up under the sills as much as possible as they aren't the strongest, especially on an ageing car.

well its probably one of the best ways to go if i had to.

I try not to jack up under the sills as much as possible as they aren't the strongest, especially on an ageing car.

 

 

will try this if i get the car at a safe enough hight

If you want to keep the axle stands out of the way (such as when you want to drop the subframe, or have things like sump guards in the way!) you can use the two box section bits that run down the centre of each floor (front to rear).

 

I always put the stands just under the round hole near the front of this box section - handy if you have a bare shell or are painting sills etc.
