Need Some Bits Of Loom Identified

Recommended Posts

Goliath

Right I am trying to sort out and label up my v6 loom ready to be mated to the 205 one. Inevitably I have come up with some questions, some things I just need confirming others I have no idea about!

Any help greatly appreciated, once i have fully labeled it up and mated it to the 205 Loom I will write an extensive guide on how to do it.

1. Whats this connector? The 2 white, 1 grey and 1 black wire on the one side of the connector have been cut and I dont know what they should be connected to.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . _____

:cut:------Black------lCON l-----RED--------\

:cut:------Grey ------lNEC l-----GREEN-------\

:cut:------White------lTOR l-----YELLOW------/I will update when I find out these wire numbers and where they go....

:cut:------White------l(red)l-----RED--------/

. . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . l____l

2. Are all the cables going in and out of this 'thing' earth cables?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ____

:spade connector:------Green----l . . .l------Yellow--------:ecu:

----------------------------Yellow----l. . . .l------Yellow--------:ecu:

:Above connector:-----Yellow----l. . . .l------Yellow--------:ecu:

:yellow connector:-----Yellow----l. . . .l------Yellow--------:white connector:

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . l. . . .l-----Green---------:ecu

First one with a grey, a black and two whites will be a lambda sensor. Apart from that i've no idea.

Thanks Mei and Tom,

I have taken all the loom plastics off and put them through the dishwasher, they have come out like new! Very impressed!

Right I have labelled up all the wires that are obvious (traced from the sensors) But how do i find out what the wires are that go into and out of the ECU? As a lot of the wires go :Sensor (etc.):--------ECU----------:Cut (ready for mating): but i cant identify the wires once they come out of the ECU without knowing the wire number. I have consulted this document (courtesy of M@tt) but to not much avail as I cant find a single perfect match of wire numbers, some similar matches which seem to tie in though.

So impressed infact the whole loom has now gone through a cycle, looks like new :)

EDIT: forgot to add link to the document 406 wiring document

Right iv been trying to find any wiring diagrams but without much luck, nor can i find a haynes manual that covers the Coupe (or V6) does anyone know if there is such a thing?

I think I want to keep almost all the 205 loom as this will be easy with the connectors just to mate the plugs onto the 205 loom. I am a little puzzled as to whether this will feasably work with the ECU though, would i just be able to mate the V6 ECU wires to the same place on the 205 loom?

Any help greatly appreciated....

The theory to fitting the V6 wiring I should imagine is the same as fitting the GTi6, though in this case IMO it would be best to use as much of the wiring as possible (or make your own dash sensor wiring)

So you would match the wires ion the large multiplugs to the wires coming through the bulkhead from the 2 brown plugs by the steering column.

this listing of component codes should help if you find a wiring diagram http://peugeot.mainspot.net/wiringall/comp.shtml

What do you need to know? That link you posted tells you every wire number.

Would a list of pin numbers for the ecu plug help as I have that on my autodata, pretty sure other people will have a more up to date autodata than me and will have a full wiring schematic as well.

Yes i believe it is very similar to the GTI-6 although i havent done one of those either! do you mean use as much of the V6 wiring as possible?

I dont have any large multiplugs on my v6 loom... maybe thats where the problem is?

EDIT I do have multiplugs, near the ECU plug.

That link I posted does label every wire but it dosent match my loom, for instance I have wires BB20, BB40 and BB60 but the closest match on that list is BB04.... does that count as a good enough match? Also a lot of my wires with a number like 410 will have about five matches on that list but all matches either having an extra number before or after.

A list of pin numbers and what they go to would be extremely helpful :)

I will try and compile a list of pin numbers tomorrow for you as I dont have time now, will also check autodata at work to try and get a schematic for you.

there where 2 variations of the engine and I suspect your listings correspond top a different variation although its odd for wiring numbers to change.

If you check a normal 406 manual I suspect a lot of the wire numbers will be the same across most models when they are in relation to multifunction relays or guiage senders etc.

Try the peugeot mainspot wiring diagrams for other 406 engines and see if their schematics throw up similarities in the wiring numbers mto get you started
