pete1986 2 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) My 205 broke down yesterday on the M11 and have found its the rotor arm thats gone. It looks ok to refit but one of the screws is bent. Would it be ok to replace with another bolt and use loctite to secure them. However, if i cant find another one the same size, will it be ok with two bolts?? Im at my sisters in cambridge so very low on resources. Ideally, i need to get it running today to get me back to sussex, i cant wait for a motor factors to order a new rotor arm. MrG 3 Posted August 10, 2008 you can give it a go, what harm can it do as you'll need to replace it anyhow?
pete1986 2 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) Iv refitted it, but its still not sparking. It just turns once or twice then stops. Iv check all the leads, one is a bit black inside but rest are fine. Havent got a socket for the spark plugs but theres no water on them. Have also checked and cleaned a few sensors and the plug thats mounted to an alloy plate (not sure what it is) by the battery. What could be the problem? Edited August 10, 2008 by pete1986
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted August 10, 2008 I take it this is a 1.9 Mi16 we are talking about? If so I once broke down myself on the M1 in my old 405, somehow I had lost two of the three screws holding the rotor arm on! However in a feat of luckiness I had my tools in the boot, and in a feat of cunning I nicked one of the screws that held the sunvisors in place and secured the rotor with that and got myself home! So basically, yes, I think you will be A-OK with just the two screws in there.
pete1986 2 Posted August 10, 2008 The screw from the sun visor worked a treat in the rotor arm. Got it started, just needed a jump start It lasted the 90 mile journey back ok. Just checked it now and was little bit loose, ill get a new one tommorow. Before setting off yesterday i took some tools out of the boot (everything i needed at my sisters today), typical eh! Oh well, got a new cheeky little stubby rachet now, sure it will come in usefull.
