Swiss 0 Posted August 10, 2008 Got a problem with my GTI-6 converted 205 (was done by a previous owner), was running fine up to last week, now every time I start the car it immediately revs really high (don't know exactly how high because my tachometer doesn't work). Traced the fault to the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, some people call it a stepper motor? It seems to be staying wide open all the time and allowing loads of air through when the throttle is closed. Replaced it with a brand new one from Peugeot, no difference at all. Upon investigtion we discovered that it's not getting 12v with the ignition on, which according to Autodata it should. Checked for continuity from the ECU plug and all 4 wires going to the plug are intact. Could this be an ECU fault? The other theory (although probably not a very good one) that we had was that the ECU wasn't getting the 12v to feed it with, we checked the +12v feeds to the ECU on pins 13 and 35, only pin 13 was live with the ignition switched on. Guess that could be something to do with the conversion though, maybe it's not essential that pin 35 gets power? Can anyone help? Has anyone experienced similar problems with theirs?
