d-9 0 Posted August 6, 2008 Going to do a bit of bodywork but no idea where the paint code is and there seem to be a few different shades of graphite grey! Where do i start looking for a paint code?
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted August 6, 2008 Usually on the slam panel above the headlamp on one or the other side but even then its not an exact science. Check through the Paintcodes reference topic to see a full breakdown & hopefully get a bit closer to yours. Graham.
welshpug 1,656 Posted August 6, 2008 I've seen it on the strut top on a 205 as well there's only one Graphite grey listed; Colour Pencil Part No Aerosol Part No ALPHA CODE NUMERIC CODEGRAPHITE GREY 986319 986019 M0 TW 1584 Gris Graphite but as you say there are a few shades, you can get a paint supplier to match it pretty closely if you take the car or a painted piece of bodywork (grille or fuel filler cap)
Paintguy 0 Posted August 7, 2008 As said, slam panel or strut top in most cases. Don't expect it to still be there though. They are written with something slightly less durable than a wax crayon, so if the engine bay has ever been cleaned it's probably been washed off long ago. Hardgraf 0 Posted August 8, 2008 I had this problem, no code on top of headlamp. Found the silver paint in Halfords by looking at the 205 silver/ greys on their computer & then checking the amount of silver, white & black going into the mix. Found the correct paint but it looks crap anyway even in touch up. Probably because my paint's 20 years old & It's metallic. Tom
