Brake fluid (blue), engine coolant/antifreeze (green) and finally screenwash (red)

ah i was wondering why there were two water resevoirs.

How much does the coolant have to be filled to?

and do i have to put coolant or can i just top up with water?

Cheers,

Merc

You need to use 50/50 antifreeze and water, the antifreeze is a corrosion inhibitor which is doubly crucial with an alloy engine.

There is a red insert in the filler neck, fill to the bottom of that when cold. If in doubt put too much in and it will discharge it through the overflow pipe when it warms up.

Its worth buying a Haynes manual for this sort of thing BTW, they get a slating on here and in some ways its deserved but it is a useful reference to have in many ways. Get the earlier edition as it has much more content.
