Stick Throttle

Hi guys,

Girlfriend drove the Mi16 for the first time earlier (loved it) and I said I would drive it home... you know showing her how it should be driven :)

Anyhoo, was giving it some and the noticed between changing the revs were shooting up so knocked it out of gear and sure enough was sitting at like 5k! Managed to scream/crawl it home ok though!

Now, once parked I could see the butterfly/bit where the throttle cable goes into wasn't returning back to it's final position and if rev'd a bit would stay where it was rev'd.

Best way to resolve this, can't say I know much about that part?

Thanks

sounds like the linkage between the two throttle butterflies has worn. does it idle at different rpm's occasionally?

I've only had it running for a few weeks and about 40 miles so can't comment too much but no- as long as i've had it the idle has been very solid!

if you manually operate the throttle does it return back to the stop well? try and oil up the linkages and check they arent worn. also make sure the throttle cable isnt too slack and is able to jump out of the assy and catch on the neck of the adjustment peice.

If I manually move the throttle it isn't quite moving back so is overevving :)

I'm not exactly sure where the linkages are but i'm sure when I have a look it'll be obvious. Top of my head where the spring is? 3 in 1 oil ok? :P

The throttle cable is a little slack, might have to trim it up a bit (405 cable cut to length!).

Thanks mate, gives me some things to look at.

Also, check for any movement in the throttle spindle. Grab it and see if there is any play, side to side. If there is you'll need a new TB.

Throttle spindle?

There seems to be some play in the part that moves the 2nd butterfly...

Can't find my fking 3 in 1 oil to give it all a bit of a spray!

If there is play I'd say the bush in the 2nd spindle is worn. Unless you can replace it, a new TB is needed.
