pacey205 2 Posted July 29, 2008 So the 205 has decided its bored of having no faults for a while (well no really irritating ones anyway!) Upon the rain today I stuck my wipers on intermittant cue them working for a while before parking halfway up the screen and then wiping continually. Turning them off did nothing and they carrid on until I switched off the ignition. Leaving them for 10 minutes has seen them revert back to normal which is usefull, but not ideal. So any ideas? Im thinking the relay maybe (which one is it, Haynes is at home) or if not stalk maybe. I have been planning to overall the wipers with a new motor as theyre not the best when theyre working (pretty slow) but havent got round to it yet. NeilGTi85 5 Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) I've never had this problem but if I did i'd go and check the connnections...sounds like its a wiring fault e.g. earth? You can see an online hayne's manual on "M@tt" profile....a link at the bottom of his sig Neil Edited July 31, 2008 by NeilGTi85

pacey205 2 Posted July 31, 2008 Right just been out and had a quick play whilst I had time. Removing the intermittent relay means that they work fine as normal and turn off when I want them to but dont park. However running the wipers with the arms bent up (so not in contact with the screen) means that there is no problem running them intermittent. As soon as the wipers are touching the screen however its back to how it was before. Earths all seem to be fine as well. So could it be the motor maybe? Its definitely very slow so maybe its on its last legs. Or something else! Michael
johnnyboy666 195 1 Cars Posted July 31, 2008 there was a topic a few weeks ago about refurbing your own wiper motor, maybe an idea to search for it?
jim205GTI 3 Posted July 31, 2008 i would hazard a guess at the motor, the one on my 205 is poop. Fast wipe is the same as the setting before........
CosKev 16 Posted July 31, 2008 Be worth refurbishing these too when scuttle panel off: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/cosk...ti/100_2497.jpg This is inside of mine: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v46/cosk...ti/100_2498.jpg No sign of any grease/lubricant when I stripped them. Had to knock them out with a hammer!!!!
