Fuel Pick-up Carbs

Recommended Posts

robin_jacobs

Hi,

Does anybody have any pictures of the pick-up or can tell how the fuel pick-up has to be made for a carbs conversion? I've read the twin carbs conversion article on drivers.com but i would like to see some different examples...

(mi16 + 45's conversion)

Thanks, regards

Robin

I use the standard 205 fuel pump and two regulators.

(Sorry for the rubbish picture )

Hopefully from this picture you can see that the fuel comes from the original filter into one regulator. This has one outlet at the top and another at the bottom. The top is connected to the next regulator and the lower pipe to the return line back to the fuel tank.

The regulator is dropping the fuel pressure to about 20 psi approx.

It then goes into a filter king with a glass bowl type pressure regulator and then is reduced again to around 5psi and then to the carbs.

It works very well and is using the original 205 pump and tank.

Hope this helps.

@Daza4

Thanks, this helps def.

One question: On the lower pipe of the first regulator(return line), is that a t-piece you have installed or is it just the way the picture is taken..?

Regards, Robin

Yes you are right. The first regulator is a turbo type so it actually has three outlets two at the top and one on the bottom. It was what came up for sale at the time and the way I plumbed it with one of the top two outlets going to the next reg and another going back to the tank. I did it this way so it didnt overfuel the next regulator. I didnt put this in the above description as it would have just over complicated things!!

If you get a standard pressure regulator and not the turbo type you wont have to do what I did. I have a few friends in the PSOOC who have done it the same as me but with the single outlet and theirs are running fine.
