Quick Answer Please - Handbrake Cables

Is there a notable or operational difference between the left and right handbrake cables on a 1.9?

I think so... i'm sure when i recently replaced mine that it wasn't even when i tightened it up the bar by the handbrake looked like this \ ( not so extreme of course) so i swopped them round and the bar ended up more level

the difference is that, one cable is shorter than the other
