saveloy 8 Posted July 26, 2008 When changing the fuel pump, is it absolutely necessary to fit a new gasket? Or can I get away with re-using the existing one?

Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 26, 2008 You could use the old one, But as with everything it's good practice to replace it as until it's off you never know what the condition is and for a few quid worth buying one
ablister 31 Posted July 26, 2008 when doing them in 206's + 307's, i always replace the securing ring as well as the gasket
saveloy 8 Posted July 31, 2008 All done, and thankfully all is well. Although I did manage to snap a bolt by being a moron. On lifting the pump I found plenty of shiny metal filings beneath it. Quite possibly the reason the pump actually failed. I managed to remove them with a magnetic tool. To be sure I will lift the pump next week and have another sift around.
