Gti6 Conversion

Recommended Posts

boldy205

Hi, i have a 205 which used to run a Mi16 on twin 45s. I now am concidering a GTi6 after the Mi blew up. Whats needed to fit the 6 engine and box? I suppose the linkage for the lift up reverse? do drive shafts fit? (im running 309 arms and shafts) Will the carb mainfold fit? Think some one once said they will?

Anything else anyone can help me with??

Thanks

Matt :)

or if you're interested in sticking with the Mi, I've got most of a bottom end here - crank just been reground -0.3mm by QEP, block (painted red with engine enamel) with liners - protrusion set correctly by QEP, there's some wear on the liners but they've been deemed reusable by Matt at QEP, 4 pistons and rods with brand new piston rings, new big end and main bearings and thrust washers, new liner seals, new rear crank seal and the 2 rubber seals which go either side of No.1 main bearing cap.

If you've still got the rogered Mi, I'd have thought you can put together a complete engine using your remains and the above (maybe need an oil pump depending on if yours sucked up a load of crap). Let me know if you're interested and I'll work out how much I'm after - really need to recoup at least the machining costs on the block, liners and crank, and cost on the bearings etc.

Put an mi16 clutch on the 6 engine and use the mi box, its a good combo and saves messing with gear stcks for the lift up reverse, the drive shafts should fit in either box though, the carb manifold will fit, you need to sort out what you want to do about ignition though, you can use the alt bracket off the mi to tension the alt on the 6 engine aswell.

Exhaust manifold and brake master cylinder clearance will need to be looked into though.

Have you looked through M@tt's project thread, as he's just done exactly what you're planning - removed an Mi and fitted a '6
